Week-Long Training on CBC Review and Conversion from Knowledge-Based Curriculum to CBE for SSET Staff

ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ, through the Directorate of Excellence in Learning and Teaching (DELT), has today officially commenced a comprehensive training program for staff from the School of Science, Engineering and Technology (SSET), aimed at reviewing the existing Knowledge-Based Curriculum (KBC) and converting it into the Competency-Based Education (CBE) framework.

The training, which began on Monday, 23rd March 2026, will run throughout the week until Friday, 27th March 2026. It brings together academic staff in a focused and collaborative environment designed to enhance teaching practices and align academic programs with evolving educational standards.

The program is structured to build a strong foundation in Competency-Based Education, emphasizing a deliberate shift from the Knowledge-Based Curriculum (KBC) to a more learner-centred model that prioritizes practical skills, measurable outcomes, and real-world application. Participants are being guided on how to review existing KBC content and integrate competencies, values, and structured learning outcomes into their course design and delivery.

Over the course of the week, staff will engage in a series of interactive sessions and hands-on activities aimed at reviewing and converting existing Knowledge-Based Curricula (KBC) into Competency-Based Education (CBE) formats. The training also provides an opportunity for participants to collaborate, share insights, and refine their approaches to teaching and assessment.

By equipping its staff with the necessary skills to implement Competency-Based Education effectively, the University is strengthening its capacity to deliver transformative, industry-relevant education.
