This afternoon, we had the honour of receiving a high-level team from (KU) for a comprehensive benchmarking exercise. The visit is part of ’s ongoing strategic review of its student disciplinary regulations and policies, aimed at aligning them with emerging trends in higher education.
The visiting team, composed of five senior university officers, engaged with ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ leadership in discussions centred on student governance, disciplinary systems, and institutional best practices.
Recognized as a centre of academic excellence and integrity, ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ was identified as a key partner for this knowledge exchange. The discussions focused on several critical pillars of institutional governance, including:
- Management of examination irregularities and the promotion of a strong culture of honesty.
- Effective structures for addressing student misconduct and ensuring fair, transparent disciplinary processes.
- Insights into appeals mechanisms and review procedures that uphold procedural fairness.
- Strategies for student sensitisation aimed at proactively addressing potential misconduct.
This engagement underscores the growing collaboration between Kenya’s leading public and private universities.
The visit concluded with a tour of university facilities and further deliberations on how the identified best practices can be adapted to strengthen student governance at Kenyatta University.
