Rooted in the Word, United in Worship: ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ Community Renewed During Mid-Week Chapel Service /info-desk/ssa/rooted-in-the-word-united-in-worship /info-desk/ssa/rooted-in-the-word-united-in-worship

The ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ Convocation Hall was filled with an atmosphere of worship, reflection, and spiritual renewal during the University's weekly mid-week chapel service. The gathering was further enriched by a special celebration marking the birthday of the Acting University Provost, Rev. Justus Mutuku, who was honoured by the university community during the service.

The sermon was delivered by Rev. Laban Kittony under the theme, "Growth Through Faith: Deepening Spiritual Roots," drawing from Hebrews 5:12–14. In his message, Rev. Kittony unpacked five foundational pillars of spiritual maturity, guiding the congregation through a deeper understanding of growing in grace, remaining grounded in God's Word, being guided by godly wisdom, guarding against sin, and cultivating meaningful Christian fellowship.

He emphasized that spiritual growth requires intentionality and commitment. Highlighting the importance of fellowship, he noted that believers thrive when they function as one body in Christ, supporting one another through love, unity, and selfless care.

The message challenged students and staff to examine their personal walk with God and firmly establish their identity in Christ as the foundation for overcoming the distractions and pressures of the modern world. Drawing from 2 Peter 3:18 and Romans 6:11–12, Rev. Kittony reminded the congregation that spiritual stability comes through grace, enabling believers to stand firm in faith and walk in willing obedience to God.

A special moment during the service was the celebration of the birthday of the Acting University Provost, Rev. Justus Mutuku. Members of the university community joined in expressing their appreciation for his faithful leadership, spiritual guidance, and dedicated service to ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ, offering prayers and warm wishes as he marked another year of God's grace and favour.

Following the sermon, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Henry Kiplangat, addressed the congregation and offered the benediction. He encouraged students to remain consistent in their spiritual lives by actively participating in chapel services, emphasizing that such gatherings provide essential spiritual nourishment for both academic and personal growth. The Vice-Chancellor also urged members of the Kabarak family to remain steadfast in prayer and concluded by inviting the entire university community to the upcoming Sunday Baptism Service, describing it as a wonderful opportunity to witness the continued spiritual transformation taking place within the institution.
